Executive Summary

Project MNE 3 is a high-potential solar photovoltaic initiative in Nikšić, Montenegro, designed to generate 34 MW of clean energy. Strategically positioned in a region with excellent solar resources and well-established energy infrastructure, this project provides an attractive opportunity for investors looking to participate in Montenegro’s growing renewable energy sector. With secured land ownership, proximity to major transmission lines, and a streamlined development process, Project MNE 3 is well-positioned to contribute to the country’s energy transition.

Key Project Metrics

  • Installed Power: 34 MW DC

  • Projected Annual Energy Output: 43.5 GWh

  • Total Land Area: 294,559 m²

  • Land Ownership: Owned by the project developer

  • Altitude: 883 meters, optimizing system efficiency

  • Average Solar Irradiation: 1,738.8 kWh/m²/year

  • Grid Connectivity: 110 kV, 220 kV, 410 kV infrastructure, located 2 km from the nearest substation

  • Development Status: In Progress

Strategic Location & Infrastructure

Located in Nikšić, a pivotal area for Montenegro’s renewable energy expansion, Project MNE 3 benefits from an optimal solar profile and close proximity to key energy infrastructure. The site is strategically positioned near three major transmission lines (110 kV, 220 kV, 410 kV), ensuring strong grid connectivity and minimal transmission losses.

The project also benefits from asphalt road access, facilitating efficient construction and operational logistics. However, there is currently no connection to the municipal water supply, which may require additional infrastructure investments.

Investment Rationale

1. Expansion of Renewable Energy Capacity

Montenegro is committed to EU sustainability targets, creating a favorable regulatory landscape for large-scale solar investments. Project MNE 3 aligns with this vision, offering investors a strong foothold in the market.

2. Long-Term Revenue Stability

  • Land fully owned by the developer, reducing acquisition risks.

  • Attractive energy tariffs and Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) opportunities ensure stable returns.

3. Optimized Photovoltaic Performance

  • High efficiency: 1,480.8 kWh/kWp specific PV output

  • Optimal module tilt: 36° for maximum energy absorption

  • Favorable climate conditions: An average temperature of 10.8°C minimizes system heat stress, ensuring long-term efficiency.

4. Grid & Infrastructure Readiness

  • Close proximity to major grid infrastructure, minimizing integration costs.

  • Existing road access, facilitating streamlined project development and operation.

Project Development Status

  • Feasibility Study: Completed

  • Land Ownership: Secured
