Overview

Project MNE 2 is a large-scale solar photovoltaic power plant (PVPP) under development in Počekovići, Montenegro. Designed to deliver 249 MW of clean, renewable energy, this project represents a significant opportunity for investors seeking to participate in Montenegro’s rapidly expanding green energy sector.

Key Project Highlights

  • Installed Power: 249 MW DC
  • Expected Annual Energy Production: 316.3 GWh
  • Land Area: 2,242,402 m², with an option for expansion
  • Land Lease: Secured for 30 years
  • Elevation: 740 meters, optimal for solar energy generation
  • Solar Irradiation: 1,701.4 kWh/m²/year (In-plane irradiation)
  • Connection Voltage: 110 kV
  • Proximity to Grid: 8 km from Vilusi substation
  • Status: In Progress

Location

The project is strategically positioned in the Municipality of Nikšić, Montenegro’s emerging renewable energy hub. The site is located near three major transmission lines (110 kV, 220 kV, 410 kV) and benefits from road access and water supply infrastructure, reducing additional investment needs.

Investment Rationale

1. Growing Renewable Energy Market

Montenegro is rapidly advancing its renewable energy agenda, aligning with EU sustainability goals. With its first-mover advantage in Montenegro.

2. Long-Term Revenue Stability

  • 30-year secured land lease at an annual rate
  • Favorable energy pricing and potential Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).

3. Optimized Solar Performance

  • High-efficiency yield: Specific PV output of 1,480.8 kWh/kWp
  • Optimal tilt: 36° angle ensures maximum solar absorption
  • Favorable climate conditions with an average temperature of 10.8°C, reducing panel overheating

4. Grid Accessibility and Infrastructure

  • Close proximity to a 110 kV grid connection, ensuring seamless integration into Montenegro’s power network.
  • Strong infrastructure with existing asphalt road access, water supply, and connectivity to local electrical networks.

Project Development Status

  • Feasibility Study: Completed
  • Land Lease Agreements: Signed with landowners
  • Urban-Technical Conditions: Completed
  • Next Steps: Securing construction permits and advancing to execution phase
